Yes, We are Still Here!

A question I often get at FX events is "So, you're married now. Are you planning your exit from FX?" This question seems to surprise me every time it pops up, but I understand where it is coming from. The trend is often for FXers to get married and then make their exit. This makes sense, since it is true that FX is a singles ministry. Yet the question continues to surprise me because Leslie, my wife, and I have no plans to leave FX.

FX has value beyond the single life. The goal of this ministry is to help us Focus on Christ, so there are several reasons that Leslie and I plan on sticking around:

  • Relationships: Leslie and I spent a long time in the ministry as single people, so many of our closest friends are here. Staying active in FX gives us opportunities to maintain relationships with the people that make up FX.
  • FX Council: Another strong pull is the chance for me to be a part of the FX Council with Gavin Baker and Casey Holbrook. We get to work with the FX pastor, Jeff Hodgson, to continue building FX one month at a time. Learning godly leadership skills is very valuable to me.
  • Changed Lives: The last reason I want to be in FX is that God is working through FX to change peoples' lives. I am personally an example of that and it makes FX an exciting place to be.
