VFC // Meet the Staff
Weekly Meetings | Community Groups | Fuel Groups | Meet the Staff | Calendar | VFC House
VFC is run by a group of people known as Interns. While we do have a Mission Team comprised of volunteers serving on different teams to make VFC run, the interns are full-time staff for Volunteers for Christ. The interns raise their own financial support and work to lead events, organize and lead community groups, orchestrate VFC Thursday night meetings, and meet with students to share the Gospel and pour into believers' lives. Click on the pictures below for more information about each intern.
Your VFC Interns:
And the Director of VFC:
In charge of the interns is the director Mike Plewniak, a pastor of Cornerstone Church of Knoxville. Mike became a Christian in 1996 through one of VFC’s bible studies. He was a freshman at UT and would have described himself as a Christian, yet soon realized that going to church once a week doesn’t make you a Christian. As Mike has shared in his testimony, “I was a hypocrite. I said one thing and lived another. Though I had heard of Jesus Christ, I never really fully trusted in the gospel and had never repented of my sins against God.” After becoming a Christian that fall, he began to serve in VFC and eventually came on staff in 2000 after graduating with a degree in moving boxes from one place to another (technically described as logistics). He’s been the director of VFC since 2002. Mike lives in Knoxville with his wife Elizabeth and five children Zeke, Lily, Knox, Freeman, and Tess.
