Women's Ministry

Legacy’s mission is to edify the church by encouraging women in their pursuit of biblical womanhood through events and ministry unique to women.

Biblical Foundation- But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine… Older women… are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled… so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us... so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior (Titus 2:1-5,8b,10b ESV).

Ministry Philosophy- We believe that a right understanding of biblical manhood and womanhood is essential for obedience to Scripture and for the health of the church.

We believe that men and women are equal yet unique. Adam and Eve were created in God's image, equal before God as persons while distinct in their manhood and womanhood (Gen 1:26-27, 2:18). The distinctions in masculine and feminine roles are ordained by God as part of the created order, and should find an echo in every human heart (Gen 2:18, 21-24; 1 Cor 11:7-9).

We believe there is widespread uncertainty and confusion in our culture regarding the complementary differences between masculinity and femininity. We hope to encourage ladies towards a winsome, biblical, radical, Spirit-empowered authenticity, which may reform rather than reflect our ailing culture.

Therefore, Legacy aims for teaching saturated with biblical truth, events which are distinctively feminine, an approach that is decidedly complementary, and a ministry edifying to the church.

Definitions

Biblical Womanhood- at the heart of mature femininity is a freeing disposition to affirm, receive and nurture strength and leadership from worthy men in ways appropriate to a woman’s differing relationships (John Piper and Wayne Grudem, Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, 1991)

Complementarianism- Male and female were created by God as equal in dignity, value, essence and human nature, but also distinct in role whereby the male was given the responsibility of loving authority over the female, and the female was to offer willing, glad-hearted and submissive assistance to the man (CBMW.org).
