The Gift of Singing

Heaven is Coming by Lisa Clow

I wrote the simple song Heaven is Coming a couple of years ago for my husband. It was during a time when we both were working more than one type of job on top of taking care of our son, and finances were a burden and work was especially discouraging for him. My hope was to remind him that its a beautiful thing to God when we endure with faith, this momentary affliction pales in comparison to the heavenly glory that’s coming for us like it says in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.  (The lyrics are at the bottom of this page).

You Provide by Lisa Clow

The song You Provide, honestly just started out as a songwriting exercise for myself. I wanted to write something in response to our church’s sermon series on the book of Ruth, but then I remember thinking how I wish we had worship songs that didn’t shy away from the harsh realities of hunger, disease, and hopes deferred. I wondered,“What would Ruth have sang herself?” and “How do we reconcile God’s love with great loss?” The truth is we can have an empty pantry and worship knowing God provides because he provided for our greatest need. He provided Jesus at the cross and we know he will redeem all of our agonies because we have the sign of the resurrection and, well, because his word tells us he will in verses like Romans 8:28. He is a wonderful provider.

Heaven is Coming lyrics

One day our toil will end

Our work will be different

Earth’s load will be left behind

Our hearts will be forever light

Heaven is coming

We believe

We will know the beauty

Of enduring

Heaven is coming

All aching will cease

What’s labored in love will

Be complete

Our backs will never tire

Our hands will be ever inspired

Hope planted now will flourish

All hearts will be ever nourished

Peace will come swift as the deer

Confusion will disappear

We will wonder how we ever feared

One day will be as a thousand years

Last Chorus:

Jesus is coming

We believe

We will know the beauty

Of enduring

Jesus is coming

All aching will cease

What's labored in love will

Be complete
